ATTENDANCE

Attendance Resources

In the Woodlynne School District, we care about all students, and when they are at school each day, we know they are healthy, safe, and learning. However, when students are not in school, they are falling behind. Chronic absenteeism impacts all students - no matter their age. Students that miss just two days a month for any reason are more likely to not read at grade level, and more likely not to graduate.

Attendance can be a signal that a student needs support. Students might be absent because of:

  • Struggles in a specific subject

  • School climate

  • Health conditions

  • Anxiety

  • Transportation

  • Caring for family members

We want to make sure that each Woodlynne student is successful, and we created this attendance resource page to help parents and caregivers with ways to help their child be at school because strong attendance makes strong students, and each student matters every day.

Every day a student is absent is a lost opportunity for learning. Too many absences not only can affect achievement for the absent student but can also disrupt learning for the entire class. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school - and themselves. Start building this habit early so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Good attendance will help children do well in high school, college, and at work.
